I just wish Cricut would get their act together with their software it really is woefully inadequate when you compare it to Silhouette Studio. The Cameo 4 has 5kg of downward force, while the Maker has 4kg. I will say that Cricut is a bit more convenient for me personally. You'll have to use one of the adapters that come with the Cameo 4 and it's a manual process to find the blade depth you want, but it's well worth it to have this tool on hand and learn how to use it. It is such a shame, because other than the software, it is an excellent piece of kit. Our preference is for the white, but clearly theres a demand for blush pink too! I dont have the room for one of those or the patience to try to learn how to operate specialized software and prefer to use Illustrator for my custom design work.

Ive been looking for it online expecting it to be released (its now later in May 2020) and cant seem to find any information on its release. To me, it sounds like a broken violin being played by a three year old. Its currently available in three colors: white, black or blush pink. It has more force potential so the difference is in the adapters. But what it is, is a giant waste of unnecessary steps that add up to a lot of wasted and time and extra clicking. I think the one feature that is lacking in the Cameo as opposed to the Maker is debossing/embossing. As much as I like the Cameo, it feels cheap. We could see the Silhouette CAMEO Pro on sale or pre-order in October at some select retailers like Swing Design but in a limited quantity. This has to be THE most helpful comparison on the 2 machines I have read. Cricut's community is bigger.

I do all of my designs in Illustrator and export them to svg and open the file with Silhouette Studio. I like the idea of having the best, but as a beginner, does the silhouette have a much bigger learning curve? If a file is designed as a vector, the layers are all separated. I 100% believe in transparency, so here are a few cons that i've run into with the Cameo 4: - Not sure if it's still happening, but there was a pretty serious autoblade shortage for quite a while. 
I do miss a bit of the convenience of the Cricut, but I'll trade that for the flexibility of the Silhouette. I havent bought either machine yet but having bought the Silhouettes 1st, 2nd and then Curio machines I have been seriously thinking of buying the latest Cricut, mainly because I love to try new things and Ive heard so much about it, I was probably a few clicks away from going to Amazon and ordering the cricut when I thought Id double check all the wonderful tools Ive read about for this machine and then I was speechless!!! I did see that the new tools for the Cameo 4 are now available on the market, so that probably wouldve made me jump to buy it if I didnt read about the Cameo Pro. I got a silhouette portrait in March and it has been a DREAM I love it so much. It definitely helped ME Lisa.

Sorry for not answering your actual question, I hope my advice helps in some way . There are more Cricut YouTubers and the subreddit was 10x larger. 
You can also pay for a plug in to send cuts to the Cameo directly from Illustrator if you prefer that. But this isn't a deal breaker for me because a lot of the editing can be done in other programs. But no matter what settings and blades I use it never worked like I wanted. The workflow is much easier, the platform is decent to work inside it if you want, and the software is local to your machine so you wont have to worry about the online servers going down.
